Inter Milan are prioritizing a move for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, but could go after Gianluca Scamacca or Beto as cheaper alternatives.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has prioritized the US international but that the club are still keeping their options open.

One thing that is clear is that Inter will sign a striker this summer.

Less certain is who that striker will be.

According to FCIN, however, Arsenal striker Balogun is the player who the Nerazzurri are focusing their attention on. The Italian outlet report that Sporting Director Ausilio is fully convinced by the 22-year-old.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are working to try and make a deal for Balogun happen.

A lot regarding Inter’s chase of the American will depend on how highly Arsenal value their young striker.

Should the Gunners insist on a fee of around €50-55 million, then Inter will not be able to afford a deal.

On the other hand, the Nerazzurri are hoping that they can convince Arsenal with a bid of around €40 million. That is the amount that they had set aside to invest in a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

Therefore, if Arsenal would accept an offer in that region, Inter will push to sign Balogun.

Morata Interest Fading, But Scamacca & Beto On Inter’s Milan’s Radar

FCIN note that Inter are also considering some other targets as alternatives to Balogun.

The Nerazzurri do not want to find themselves in a position of failing to sign the US international and not having any Plan B options in mind.

One player who has been on Inter’s shortlist in the past couple weeks has been Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

However, FCIN report, the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of the Spaniard has cooled. The reason for this is that Atletico appear determined to hold out for a fee of around €21 million.

Inter see that as too high to pay for a player who will turn 31 next season.

On the other hand, Inter would be ready to move for either West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca or Udinese’s Beto.

Both are younger than Morata.

Neither Scamacca nor Beto are currently Inter’s priority in attack, FCIN reports. However, if a Balogun deal proves beyond reach, then the Nerazzurri would be ready to move for one of them.
