Inter Milan are still in the race to sign Lazar Samardzic, but Lazio are also keen on bringing in the Udinese midfielder.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who reported live on air via FCInter1908 that the Biancocelesti have not yet made an official offer for the 21-year-old, but that they see him as a potential replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Last season saw Samardzic emerge as a top young talent in Serie A.

The German-born Serbian international enjoyed something of a breakout campaign, playing a more and more prominent role for Udinese as the season wore on.

This has led to some suggestions that the Friulani won’t be able to hold onto Samardzic for much longer. The biggest teams in Serie A are reportedly starting to ponder a transfer.

Inter are one of the teams who have been strongly linked with Samardzic in recent weeks.

The Nerazzurri want to sign one more midfielder to complete the depth chart for next season, and their objective is to sign a young player with room to grow.

Meanwhile, the likes of Napoli and the Juventus are reportedly also tracking Samardzic.

However, a new major candidate to sign the German-born Serbian international has also emerged.

Lazio Join Inter In The Race To Sign Lazar Samardzic

Milinkovic-Savic’s big money move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal has left Lazio with a big hole to fill in midfield.

Now, the Biancocelesti will have to sign an adequate replacement for the Serb.

And according to SportItalia transfer expert Pedulla, one of the main names who they are looking at is Samardzic.

He reports that they have not yet made an official offer to Udinese to sign the former RB Leizpig star.

However, the interest is there. Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri sees Samardzic as having the right profile to complete the midfield in the absence of Milinkovic-Savic.

Moreover, the Biancocelesti will have the significant transfer fee that they received for Milinkovic-Savic to invest in a deal.

Pedulla reports that Inter’s interest in signing Samardzic is serious.

But they will also have to contend with Lazio trying to sign the player as well.
