Inter Milan are ready to swoop to sign Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero to become their backup keeper next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are prepared to bring in the 26-year-old in addition to Yann Sommer as they aim to finally complete their options in goal for next season.

The departure of Andre Onana has left Inter with a big void to fill in goal this summer.

The fact that captain Samir Handanovic also left at the end of his contract hardly helps matters.

There are two slots for the Nerazzurri to fill. And the club have been looking to come up with a strategy for how to ensure both starting quality and depth in the goalkeeping positions, which had been a real strength last season, for the upcoming campaign.

Inter Milan Ready To Move For Audero + Sommer

At the moment, Inter are trying to move on a couple fronts.

On the one hand, the Nerazzurri are trying to make a transfer of Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich happen as soon as possible.

There is still an impasse between the clubs as the Germans seek a replacement, leading to some impatience.

However, the sense is that Inter will get a deal to sign Sommer over the line sooner or later.

But the 34-year-old is not the only goalkeeper that the Nerazzurri are after.

Inter want to sign two goalkeepers. Sommer would only be the first.

Anatoliy Trubin has been a persistent target for the Nerazzurri, whether this summer for a fee or next summer on a free transfer.

However, Trubin’s club Shakhtar has shown no signs of relenting on their asking price for the 21-year-old.

They want €25-30 million to sell Trubin. This is 2-3 times more than what Inter are willing to pay for the Ukrainian, clearly no basis for negotiations.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are beginning to accept that a deal for Trubin this summer may prove impossible to agree. They could instead move for him next summer on a free transfer.

But in the meantime, Inter must still seek a second goalkeeper for depth.

And according to Tuttosport, Audero is likely to be that keeper.
