Atalanta have denied interest in signing West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, leaving Inter Milan favourites for his signature.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that La Dea have made clear that they are not actually trying to sign the 24-year-old despite some rumours, leaving the Nerazzurri as the favourites for his signature.

In recent days, Inter have been moving fast to try and sign Scamacca.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly prepared to put forward around €30 million in total in terms of their offer. This would be sufficient to make a deal with West Ham.

Meanwhile, Roma by contrast have only been able to offer a loan with a purchase option.

Therefore, Inter have looked to be the team in pole position to sign Scamacca.

However, a report from earlier today suggested that things might not be so easy for the Nerazzurri.

Atalanta, the report indicated, were also keen to sign Scamacca. And they were ready to put an offer of defender Merih Demiral plus cash on the table to land the Italian international.

Atalanta Not Interested In Gianluca Scamacca – Inter Milan Still Lead The Way

According to Mediaset, however, Atalanta have quashed the notion that they are trying to sign Scamacca.

La Dea have not shown an interest in the striker.

This means that the Nerazzurri are still in the driver’s seat.

Inter have already made an offer that is not miles away from West Ham’s asking price in the last couple days. Therefore, there is a clear basis for negotiations with the Hammers.

Considering Inter are the only team currently making a serious effort to sign Scamacca that would satisfy West Ham’s demands, they are still favourites to sign him.

The next couple days could well be decisive.

The Nerazzurri will aim to make the decisive offer for Scamacca very soon.
