Inter Milan Cool Interest In Signing Ex Real Madrid Striker

Inter Milan have significantly cooled their interest in signing Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri would have little intention of moving for the 30-year-old unless the Colchoneros were to drop the asking price.

Inter look to be back to square one in their pursuit of a striker now that West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca is on the verge of joining Atalanta.

One player who the Nerazzurri have already been looking at is Atletico striker Alvaro Morata.

Reports suggest that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi prefers a move for the Spaniard.

Morata’s Serie A experience from four season spent at Juventus would certainly be an asset.

Moreover, like Scamacca, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea striker would provide a physical reference point in attack, holdup play, and the ability to bring his teammates into the final third.

However, Atletico want €21 million for Morata. For a player who will turn 31 in the fall, Inter consider that to simply be too steep.

The Nerazzurri have already held talks with Morata’s representatives. However, since those initial meetings, it’s been all but radio silence as they’ve pursued other targets.

Inter have not been the only team in Serie A to show an interest in signing Morata this summer.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho reportedly wants the Spaniard.

The Giallorossi, like the Nerazzurri, have already held talks with Morata’s entourage.

However, the club from the Italian capital are wary of investing a significant amount in a short-term option with little resale value.

Other big Serie A teams like AC Milan and Juventus have also shown interest of their own in Morata.

And for his part, the Spaniard has reportedly hoped for a return to Serie A this summer.

However, the Corriere notes, this simply doesn’t seem to be on the cards.

And for his part, Morata won’t push for a move away from the Spanish capital. He is reasonable content at Atletico, and if no teams from Italy can make the deal happen, he’ll stay put without  fuss.
