Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini is hoping to make a move to sign Inter Milan target Carlos Augusto from Monza this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Carlos Augusto has been one of the breakout stars of this Monza team last season.

August helped Monza achieve promotion to Serie A, and then shone in his first season in the top flight.

Augusto has been a key player for Monza particularly in attack. He has made 35 appearances in Serie A for Raffaele Palladino’s side.

In the process, the Brazilian has managed six goals and five assists.

This has naturally led to no shortage of transfer interest in the Monza wingback.

Both of Inter and Juventus have reportedly lined the Brazilian up as one of their main targets on the left flank.

Moreover, Fiorentina had also shown an interest in signing Augusto earlier on in the transfer window. However, the Tuscans’ signing of Fabiano Parisi from Empoli likely means that their interest in the Monza wingback has diminished.

Meanwhile, Torino are also after Augusto.

Gasperini Wants Carlos Augusto At Atalanta Next Seson

And according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, another team are ready to enter the fray to sign Augusto.

The newspaper report that Atalanta are considering a move. La Dea coach Gian Piero Gasperini is a big fan of the 24-year-old and is trying to convince his club to make the effort.

Gasperini is known for his use of attacking wingbacks as a key facet of his teams’ attacking play.

Therefore, Augusto would constitute a fairly rational target for Atalanta.

As far as Inter’s interest in Augusto go, it would be entirely contingent on a sale of Robin Gosens.

At the moment, the Nerazzurri don’t look that likely to offload the German, who has reportedly turned down Wolfsburg.

Therefore, Atalanta could have a fairly free path to signing Augusto.
