Inter Milan have narrowed down their search for a striker to Folarin Balogun, Alvaro Morata, and Beto.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who also report that Alexis Sanchez would only return to the Nerazzurri if it’s as a replacement for Joaquin Corea.

Then there were three.

With Gianluca Scamacca no longer an option, Inter have whittled down their striker shortlist to three names.

Arsenal striker Balogun is the Nerazzurri directors’ pick. They believe that the 22-year-old US international would be a strong investment for the future.

Everything may well come down to whether or not Arsenal will go as low as €40 million in their asking price.

On a different tack, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi still wants Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

The club directors would not be great fans of making a significant investment in the 30-year-old. However, Inzaghi wants an out-and-out centre-forward who can act as a reference point in the final third.

Scamacca had been the compromise option but is now off the table.

Udinese’s Beto, on the other hand, could fulfill the same role. Like Scamacca, the 25-year-old is both a tall and physical centre-forward as Inzaghi hopes for, and also young enough to still be an investment for the future.

Inter To Go After Balogun, Morata, Or Beto – Alexis Only If Correa Leaves

In any event, the Corriere reports, it will be one of Balogun, Morata, or Beto at this stage.

The club are getting their pursuit of Balogun ready. And for his part Inzaghi still hopes for Morata.

On the other hand, former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez is not an option to be the main striker signing.

However, the Chilean could arrive on a free transfer on one condition.

If the Nerazzurri are able to offload forward Joaquin Correa during the window, then they would consider signing Sanchez.
