Inter Milan have whittled down their search for a backup goalkeeper to Anatoliy Trubin, Bento, and Emil Audero.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will turn their attention to signing one of the trio now that they’ve wrapped up a deal for Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer.

Inter still have a few more important pieces of business to do before the summer transfer window closes.

They’ll soon have one less, however. Yann Sommer should complete his move from Bayern by tomorrow.

This will certainly let the Nerazzurri breathe a sigh of relief – without the Swiss in place, there has been no replacement for Andre Onana as the beginning of the new season looms.

However, Sommer won’t likely be the only keeper who Inter sign.

With Samir Handanovic also out the door, a backup goalkeeper is also on the agenda.

Inter Focus On Trubin, Bento & Audero In Backup Keeper Search

According to Tuttosport, Inter will sign one of three players to be their backup keeper next season.

In any event, the aim is to go for a younger keeper rather than a veteran. Given that at 34 years of age Sommer will only be a relatively short-term solution as the starter, the Nerazzurri want someone who has the potential to grow into the role over the coming seasons.

For some time, Shakhtar Donetsk keeper Trubin has looked to be Inter’s top target in this respect.

The Nerazzurri are convinced by the form that the 21-year-old ha already shown. They believe that he can grow into the starter over the next couple seasons.

However, there is always the matter of the fee to deal with.

At the moment, Inter are still miles apart from Shakhtar, who aren’t offering any discounts despite Trubin’s contract situation.

Another name who has come onto the Nerazzurri’s radar is Athletico Paranaense keeper Bento.

The player himself has recently confirmed that there is an offer on the table. He wants to make the switch.

But everything could come down, like with Trubin, to whether Paranaense accept an offer within Inter’s price range.

And then, Sampdoria keeper Emil Audero remains in Inter’s thinking. The 26-year-old could prove to be an ideal opportunity given the Blucerchiati’s relegation to Serie B last season.
