Inter Milan are still considering a move for Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga if other targets in defense prove out of reach.

This according to SportItalia reporter Gianluigi Longari, who reported in a tweet that the Nerazzurri could try to sign the 24-year-old on loan with a purchase option before the summer transfer window closes.

Whilst Inter have already done a lot of transfer business this summer, one priority remains.

The Nerazzurri still need to sign one more defender.

However, the identity of the player who Inter will bring in remains a mystery.

Reports have suggested that Inter could decide to splash the cash on a defender. The reason for this is that the failure to sign Lazar Samardzic and the low-cost arrival of Marko Arnautovic mean that the Nerazzurri will theoretically have the funds on hand.

Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini is reportedly Inter’s top target.

And, perhaps less ambitiously, the Nerazzurri are also eyeing up Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu .

Inter Milan Still Keeping Tabs On Spurs Defender Japhet Tanganga

Even with the Nerazzurri perhaps having greater financial resources than expected, there is still no guarantee of them getting a deal over the line for any of their top targets.

Therefore, Longari reports, Inter are still keeping Tanganga in mind.

A key potential advantage to going after the Englishman would be that Tottenham could open up to a loan deal.

Whereas in the case of other targets, the Nerazzurri could possibly secure a loan deal with a purchase obligation, they’d still be on the hook for a large fee sooner or later.

On the other hand, Tanganga could arrive on loan with just a purchase option. Therefore, he could be more financially within reach.

According to Longari, Inter are considering this factor.

The journalist specifies that Tanganga is far from the Nerazzurri’s top target.

However, he’s a player they’re keeping in mind in their search for a defender.
