Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard could already undergo his medicals on a move to Inter Milan this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are within a couple million euros of Bayern’s asking price and that the Bavarians have already lined a replacement up.

Inter have made Pavard their top target in defense.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact. And coach Simone Inzaghi has also admitted that he wants the Frenchman in his squad by the end of the summer transfer window.

And now, Inter’s pursuit of Pavard is getting close to the finish line.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter have now offered Bayern €28 million plus €5 million in add-ons. This total of €33 million doesn’t quite get to the Bavarians’ €33 million valuation.

However, at this point the difference of roughly €2 million is fairly trivial.

Bayern Munich Defender Benjamin Pavard Could Already Undergo Inter Milan Medicals This Week

Bayern have accepted that a Pavard move is basically inevitable at this point.

The 27-year-old has pushed hard for the move, and the Bavarians are ready to accept an Inter offer. Perhaps the Nerazzurri bumping up their offer one more time will do the trick.

Then, Pavard can get the formalities of his move out of the way.

Chief among these will be the player’s medicals. According to the Gazzetta, the situation is such that the Frenchman could already undergo his medicals some time in the middle of the current week.

Naturally Inter don’t want to waste much time with the end of the transfer window in view and the season now underway.

Meanwhile, Bayern will also have to replace Pavard.

Reports have suggested that the German champions’ main objection to selling the former Stuttgart has concerned their reluctance to go into the season without adequate defensive depth.

According to the Gazzetta, though, Bayern have lined up the replacement already. However, the newspaper do not identify who that might be.
