Inter Milan will meet with the agent of striker and captain Lautaro Martinez for contract extension talks in the coming days.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCinterNews.

As things stand, Martinez’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2026.

The former Racing Club striker signed his current deal during the fall of 2021.

There may not be any panic to extend Martinez’s deal. But by all accounts, Inter want to do so sooner rather than later.

The Argentine has become a hugely important player for the Nerazzurri in his five seasons and counting at the club. This season he has begun wearing the captain’s armband.

Martinez has been Inter’s top scorer in each of the past two seasons.

And considering that the striker has already found the back of the net twelve times this season, it seems likely that he will do so again.

There has also been persistent transfer interest in Martinez. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all targeted the Inter striker in the past couple transfer windows.

Barcelona and Manchester City have also chased Martinez during his time at the Nerazzurri.

Inter To Meet With Agent Of Lautaro Martinez For Contract Talks Soon

Considering his form and importance to the team, Inter have certainly made extending Martinez’s contract into a priority.

The Nerazzurri are set to offer the Argentine a new deal until the end of June 2028.

This will also, naturally, include a pay raise. Martinez should become Inter’s highest-paid player in the event that he puts pen to paper on a new deal.

Inter have yet to formally open talks with Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano.

But that doesn’t appear to be far away.

According to Sky, Inter will meet with Camano sometime within the next few days.

Inter have made ironing out an extension of Martinez’s contract a priority for 2024. And they will get the ball rolling soon enough.
