Defender Stefan de Vrij feels that he will stay at Inter Milan this summer despite some transfer rumours linking him with a move away.

The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after his national team’s EURO 2024 win over Turkey yesterday. He made clear that he is happy at the Nerazzurri.

At the moment, de Vrij has one season left on his contract with Inter.

The Dutchman signed a contract extension with the Nerazzurri last summer, taking him until the end of next June.

And de Vrij decided to do so despite the fact that his previous deal was expiring last summer.

Had de Vrij decided not to accept an offer from Inter and leave on a free transfer, Villarreal had been strongly linked as a destination.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Manchester United have been linked with the Dutchman recently.

Two other English teams have also reportedly shown interest, in the form of Aston Villa and Leicester City.

French team Marseille also came forward with interest.

Stefan De Vrij: “I See Myself Staying At Inter Milan”

There is certainly no indication that de Vrij has pushed for a move away recently, or that he will be doing so this summer.

Nevertheless, that does not mean that there is not interest in signing the 32-year-old.

And if the right offer were to come along, Inter may well consider selling a player who is well into his thirties. De Vrij is also a player who Inter signed on a free transfer.

Reportedly, Al-Ittihad and PSV are both keen on signing de Vrij from Inter this summer.

However, it is unlikely that Inter will sell the nformer Lazio defender if he has no intention of leaving.

“I still have one year left on my contract,” de Vrij commented. “Plus an option of another one.”

The Dutchman made clear that “I’m very happy at Inter. It’s been a crazy season.”

“I see myself staying at Inter,” de Vrij said.
