PSG goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli has made the switch to Inter Milan, replacing Adriano Bonaiuti in the role.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, who report that the 56-year-old will take on the role, as Bonaiuti departs after ten years at the club.
Former Padova and Juventus goalkeeper Bonaiuti has been Inter’s goalkeeping coach for the last ten years.
He joined the club at the behest of Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic. The Slovenian had wanted the club to bring Bonaiuti in from Udinese, after the pair had enjoyed working together at the Friulani.
Handanovic joined Inter in 2012, whilst Bonaiuti followed in 2013.
In the decade since, the 56-year-old Italian has held the role, working closely with Handanovic.
However, there is a changing of the guard in the Inter goal.
Andre Onana joined in the summer from Ajax. The Cameroonian has displaced captain Handanovic from the first-choice role with a string of outstanding performances.
This means that the future of Handanovic is in doubt at the San Siro. And even if the 38-year-old does stay, he will hardly be first-choice any longer.
Even though Onana has been linked with a possible transfer away, Inter would certainly look to sign a new first-choice keeper to replace the 27-year-old in the event that he heads for the exit door.
Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili are among the Nerazzurri’s targets.
