France international Marcus Thuram has performance-related add-ons in his contract with Inter Milan.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that in addition to the €6 million net per season that he’ll earn on his deal with the Nerazzurri, the 25-year-old can also pocket additional add-ons depending on various potential performance-related triggers.

Inter have landed their man. On Saturday, the Nerazzurri officially announced that Thuram had signed a five-year contract, on a free transfer after his deal with Borussia Monchengladbach had run out.

The Nerazzurri beat the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United to the Frenchman’s signature.

Maybe most pertinently of all, Inter signed the 25-year-old ahead of city rivals AC Milan.

The Gazzetta confirm reports about the wages that the player will earn. Former Guingamp and Sochaux star Thuram will receive wages of €6 million net per season.

This will cost Inter around €7.7 million gross per season. The reason for this is that the Nerazzurri benefit from the tax benefits of the Growth Decree in their payment of the Frenchman’s wages.

Marcus Thuram Has Performance-Related Add-Ons In Contract With Inter Milan

The Gazzetta further reveal that Thuram could earn even more than the base amount of his wages at Inter.

This is because the 25-year-old’s deal contains performance-related add-ons.

The Gazzetta does not specify the exact trigger for these add-ons. However, it notes that they are related to the number of appearances that Thuram makes, and the team’s performances in various competitions.

Thuram will be one of Inter’s highest earners during the upcoming season. Particularly with the departure of Marcelo Brozovic to join Al-Nassr.

The Nerazzurri are certainly showing their faith in the ability of the ex-Gladbach striker to make an impact with the size of these wages.

And, with the add-ons, Thuram will have even greater incentive to hit the ground running at Inter.
