Atalanta’s Rafael Toloi and Lille’s Tiago Djalo are on Inter Milan’s list of defensive targets, whilst Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard remains a “dream signing” for the Nerazzurri.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri still have a few names in mind in their search for one last defensive signing before the summer transfer window closes.

Inter have already made one defensive signing this summer in the form of Yann Bisseck.

However, the German will not be the final defender that the Nerazzurri bring in during the transfer window.

Bisseck is a player who Inter see as more of a replacement for Danilo D’Ambrosio. He can play a similar number of minutes to the veteran, whilst lowering the average age of the squad and having significant potential to grow.

Inter still have to replace Milan Skriniar, however.

The Nerazzurri had looked close to completing a deal for Cesar Azpilicueta. However, that fell through when the Spaniard joined Atletico Madrid, leaving Inter back at square one.

Toloi & Djalo On Inter Milan’s List – But Pavard The “Dream:

The Gazzetta confirm reports that Inter are interested in signing Atalanta captain Toloi.

The 32-year-old would be a fairly similar profile to Azpilicueta. He would bring leadership, experience, and a high comfort level playing on the right of a back three system.

Going in a different direction, the Gazzetta report, the Nerazzurri could revive their interest in young Lille defender Djalo.

However, the newspaper notes, the Portuguese is still out with a long-term knee injury. Therefore, Inter would be likelier to go after him in January, or even as a free transfer opportunity next summer when his contract with Lille runs out.

Lastly, the Gazzetta notes, there is still Pavard.

The Nerazzurri have not outwardly projected a strong intention to sign the Frenchman. Even with his contract situation at Bayern, Pavard would still be a costly signing with plenty of suitors.

However, particularly with the imminent arrival of Kyle Walker in Bavaria, Bayern could open up to a sale of Pavard.

Therefore, the Gazzetta hint, there is no reason to assume that Inter aren’t still hoping to pull off a “dream” signing of the 2018 World Cup winner.
