Man United could have a key role to play in the transfer battle between Inter Milan and Juventus to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note how the Red Devils’ pursuit of Bianconeri midfielder Adrien Rabiot could factor into where the Lazio star goes this summer.

Inter and Juventus are both pushing to make a big midfield signing this summer.

All signs point to Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi being Inter’s chosen target to bolster the team in central areas. The likes of Juventus and Roma are also keen, but Inter are now in pole position.

The Nerazzurri going all-in for Frattesi could clear a path for Juventus to move for Milinkovic-Savic.

The Serb looks very likely to leave Lazio this summer. The Biancocelesti will want to sell the player given that his contract expires at the end of next June and he’s not extending.

Inter are also keen on Milinkovic-Savic. The former Genk man has long been on the Nerazzurri directors’ radar.

Moreover, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi could be keen on a reunion considering he coached Milinkovic-Savic for more than five seasons whilst in charge of the Biancocelesti.

How Man United Could Allow Juventus To Beat Inter To Milinkovic-Savic

The fact that Inter look to be prioritizing Frattesi means that Milinkovic-Savic’s arrival doesn’t look overly probable, though.

This naturally hands a big boost to Juventus.

With one of their main rivals in Serie A out of the way, the Bianconeri would have a clear path to sign Milinkovic-Savic.

There is always a possibility that teams from outside Italy could come forward.

The Premier League could be a destination.l Newcastle United and Arsenal are also tracking the 28-year-old.

However, Juventus are now favourites as long as Inter’s attention is on Frattesi.

However, the fate of current Bianconeri star Rabiot could be key.

The Frenchman’s contract with Juventus runs out at the end of this month. Premier League giants Manchester United are keen on signing the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

If United to convince Rabiot to leave Juventus, replacing him with a similar profile will be a priority for the Turn giants.

Milinkovic-Savic would be exactly the sort of player they would go after. Moreover, with Rabiot’s wages off their books, there would be space to sign the Serb.

If, on the other hand, the Red Devils don’t sign Rabiot and he stays at Juventus, things would be different. It is not clear whether the Bianconeri would be able to both keep Rabiot and sign Milinkovic-Savic.

Additionally, the Gazzetta note, Juventus are ready to sweeten a deal for Milinkovic-Savic with players going the other way.

They could offer Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella or wingback Luca Pellegrini to lower the fee for the Serb.
