Inter Milan have identified Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Liverpool defender Joel Matip as possible replacements for Milan Skriniar.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Premier League duo are both potential targets the Nerazzurri could go after this summer as they look to make a big signing in defense.

Replacing Milan Skriniar is a priority for Inter this summer, given that the Slovakian will leave to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Moreover, the future of Danilo D’Ambrosio is also also up in the air.

Accordingly, there is no question that the Nerazzurri will be making one or two defensive signings this summer.

The Gazzetta note that Inter are already closing in on Germany Under-21 star Yann Aurel Bisseck from Danish side Aarhus. However, the Nerazzurri also want to sign a more proven player in defense.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter have identified two players from the Premier League as possible targets.

Inter Keen On Chelsea Captain Azpiliueta

One player Inter are thinking about a move for his Chelsea captain Azpilicueta.

The Gazzetta note that Blues defender Trevoh Chalobah is also a major target for the Nerazzurri to replace Skriniar. However, to sign the 23-year-old Englishman they’d have to convince Chelsea on a loan deal.

In the meantime, however, Inter are also pondering a move for another Chelsea player in the form of Azpilicueta.

The 33-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next June.

Inter could find Azpilicueta easier to sign compared to Chalobah due to his age. They could see if they can agree a deal with Chelsea as part of the talks for striker Romelu Lukaku.

Liverpool Defender Matip Also On Inter Milan’s List

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are also considering a possible move for Liverpool defender Matip.

The 31-year-old Cameroonian international is more used to playing in a back three than a back four. However, Inter are still fans of him.

Matip is another player the Nerazzurri are looking at as a Skriniar replacements.
