Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij has rejected a huge money offer from the Saudi Pro League, and will instead extend his Nerazzurri contract.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

De Vrij’s current contract with Inter runs out at the end of this month.

The Dutchman would therefore be able to leave on a free transfer were he to decide not to sign a new deal.

Were de Vrij to decide not to accept an offer from Inter and leave on a free transfer, Villarreal have been strongly linked as a destination.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Manchester United have been linked with the Dutchman. Two other English teams have also reportedly shown interest, in the form of Aston Villa and Leicester City.

French team Marseille have also come forward with interest.

However, it looks clear that de Vrij will instead decide to remain at his current club.

Stefan De Vrij To Turn Down Big Money Saudi Offer To Stay At Inter

Clubs in Europe are far from de Vrij’s only suitors.

Teams from the Saudi Pro League have been embarking on a summer of lavish spending. Their aim is to bring a number of big names from Europe to Saudi Arabia as part of an ambitious project.

De Vrij is one player who the Saudi Pro League has made an effort to tempt away.

The former Biancocelesti defender’s contract situation appears to have suggested that he could be attainable.

However, the Corriere report, de Vrij has other ideas. The player’s agent has also confirmed as much.

The Dutchman is keen to stay at Inter Milan. He will sign a new contract in the coming days.
