Inter Milan could bring academy graduate Filip Stankovic back into the first team now that Alex Cordaz is leaving.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the departure of the third-choice keeper from the last two seasons could prompt a rethink in the goalkeeping positions for next season that may include a role for Stankovic.

It now looks as though Cordaz will leave Inter this summer.

Initially, the 40-year-old veteran was all ready to stay another campaign. Whilst his contract ran out at the end of last month, Inter were happy to offer a new deal to the experienced keeper who has played an important role behind the scenes since his arrival in the summer of 2021.

However, a surprise offer from Al-Nassr has changed all of that.

The Saudi Pro League have decided to make a move for Cordaz along with his former Inter teammate and personal friend Marcelo Brozovic.

According to FCIN, Al-Nassr will first sign Cordaz as a player. Then, he will have a role in the Saudi club’s coaching staff.

FCIN note that Al-Nassr’s offer to Cordaz absolutely dwarfs whatever wages Inter would pay him to extend his deal. This, the outlet reports, he will head to Saudi Arabia for next season.

Inter Milan Could Bring Back Filip Stankovic After Alex Cordaz Departure

Cordaz’s exit leave the Nerazzurri with a bit of an unexpected headache.

They will aim to head into next season with three goalkeepers. Moreover, the futures of both Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic are also uncertain.

As such, Inter will have to formulate their strategy to fill the goalkeeping positions.

According to FCIN, one idea that the Nerazzurri have to add depth in goal is to bring back Stankovic.

The Serb has spent the past two seasons on loan in the Netherlands with Volendam.

Last season, Stankovic was named as the Eredivisie team’s player of the season.

Stankovic is currently under contract with Inter until the end of next June. Therefore, the Nerazzurri have a decision to make about the 21-year-old’s future one way or the other.

According to FCIN, it cannot be excluded that Stankovic will extend his contract and be part of Inter’s first-team setup next season.
