Inter Milan are ready to make a move to sign Atalanta defender Merih Demiral as their replacement for Milan Skriniar.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 25-year-old Turkish international is increasingly the hot name in the Nerazzurri’s search for Paris Saint-German-bound Skriniar.

Finding a replacement for Skriniar has always looked to be one of Inter’s major priorities for the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, the confirmed departure of Danilo D’Ambrosio only further adds to the pressing need for defensive reinforcements.

At the moment, the only player in Inter’s squad capable of playing on the right of the back three is the versatile Matteo Darmian.

Inter have missed out on Real Madrid veteran Nacho, whilst Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta has also rejected the Nerazzurri in favour of a move to the Spanish capital.

Skriniar’s exit is now official. The Slovakian has left Inter at the end of his contract last month, and should seal a move to PSG soon.

And, as the weeks pass by, Inter must step up their search for a replacement.

Inter Milan Keen On Atalanta Star Merih Demiral As Skriniar Replacement

According to the Corriere, Inter’s focus is increasingly turning to former Juventus and Sassuolo defender Demiral.

The Turk will almost certainly leave Atalanta this summer. The reason for this is a deep rift that has formed between the player and La Dea coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Demiral had already looked as though he could have joined Inter in January. That was when Inter were considering any offers from PSG for Skriniar, in which case the Atalanta defender was their replacement in mind.

In the end Skriniar stayed put. So did Demiral.

However, Skriniar has left Inter. And Demiral is still virtually certain to leave Bergamo this summer.

Accordingly, the 25-year-old has never really left the Nerazzurri’s radar.

And, the Corriere report, Inter are now thinking more and more of reigniting their pursuit.
