Inter Milan will announce the contract extension of Dutch international defender Stefan de Vrij soon, confirms his agent.

The 31-year-old’s representative Federico Pastorello spoke with Italian news outlet FCInter1908 after meeting with the Nerazzurri, alsoi confirming that they are interested in signing midfielder Roberto Pereyra on a free transfer.

Stefan de Vrij now looks to be on the verge of signing a new deal with Inter.

The Dutchman had joined the Nerazzurri via a free transfer in 2018, from Lazio when his contract with the Biancocelesti ran out.

If de Vrij were to decline to extend his deal with Inter he would be free to leave via the same route. The former Biancocelesti star’s existing deal ran out at the end of last month.

Were de Vrij to decide not to accept an offer from Inter and leave on a free transfer, Villarreal have been strongly linked as a destination.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Manchester United have been linked with the Dutchman recently. Two other English teams have also reportedly shown interest, in the form of Aston Villa and Leicester City.

French team Marseille also came forward with interest.

However, all of those teams are now looking as though they’re going to miss out. According to de Vrij’s agent, a new contract with Inter is only a matter of time.

Agent: Stefan De Vrij Will Extend Inter Milan Contract

Asked if de Vrij will extend his deal, his agent Pastorello replied “Yes, I’ve been here working on the very final details. The announcement will arrive soon.”

“Almost everything is in place,” he added.

Pastorello also spoke about another of his clients, midfielder Roberto Pereyera. The midfielder is available on a free transfer after his contract with Udinese expired.

Inter are reportedly thinking about a move. “He’s a player they like including for his versatility. It’s no secret that they consider him an option.”

“We’ll have to see what happens in the next few days.”

Pastorello also nipped any rumours of Inter interest in Napoli keeper Alex Meret in the bud. “No, we’ve never talked about him,” the agent said about the Napoli keeper.”

“Onana is still there and that will depend on his departure.”
