Lazio President Claudio Lotito has admitted that the Biancocelesti could sell Inter Milan target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the Biancocelesti President revealed his stance on the 28-year-old Serbian international’s future.

In recent days, Inter’s interest in Milinkovic-Savic has seemed to cool.

The Nerazzurri have considered the former Genk midfielder as a potential target to bolster their midfield. Coach Simone Inzaghi would particularly like a reunion with Milinkovic-Savic.

The arrival of Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo, however, indicates the direction that Inter’s plans are taking.

This does not mean that Milinkovic-Savic has stopped being a target for the Nerazurri altogether, however. The Serb has been on Inter’s radar for years now.

Moreover, Inzaghi’s presence on the bench would mean that the Serb would always have a very willing sponsor.

Meanwhile, Juventus are also reportedly keen on signing Milinkovic-Savic.

Lotito Reveals Lazio Stance On Inter Target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Key to Lazio’s reported willingness to listen to offers for Milinkovic-Savic is the fact that his contract runs out at the end of next June.

Without an extension, this summer would represent the Biancocelesti’s last chance to cash in.

Lotito first made clear that “I don’t want to sell him. On the contrary I’m trying to extend his contract.”

“But a contract has to be something that all parties agree upon,” he added.

Lotito then stated that “Lazio certainly don’t need to sell to buy,” an apparent dig at Roma and Inter.

“If we do happen to lose a player, it won’t be because we have to make money.”

Lotito explained that if Lazio were to let a player leave, it will come down to “Technical choices, personal decisions, relationships matter.”

The Lazio President then stated tellingly that “If a player wants to leave, I won’t stand in their way.”

Asked if Milinkovic-Savic has asked to leave, Lotito replied “Not to me. He never said that.”

“He’s been with us for eight years, that’s a long time.”
