Inter Milan have agreed a surprise deal to sign wingback Juan Cuadrado on a free transfer after his contract with Juventus expired.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who reported in a tweet that the veteran Colombian international will sign a one-year deal to join the Nerazzurri.

Inter have been looking for a right-wingback signing this summer.

The departure of Raoul Bellanova means that only Denzel Dumfries remains in the squad as a specialist right-sided wide man.

Matteo Darmian will likely be used mainly as a defender on the right of a back three. Therefore, the Nerazzurri have been looking for another player who can back up and provide competition for Dumfries.

Spezia’s Emil Holm, Torino’s Wilfried Singo, and Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan have all emerged on Inter’s shortlist.

However, according to Sky, Inter have decided to go in an entirely different direction. The Nerazzurri will turn to a highly unlikely candidate to hold down the right flank on a short-term basis.

Inter Milan Agree Surprise Deal With Juan Cuadrado Following Juventus Exit

35-year-old Colombian international Cuadrado has left Juventus after eight seasons in Turin.

The wingback joined the Bianconeri from Chelsea in the summer of 2015.

Cuadrado has made a total of 314 appearances for Inter’s bitter rivals. He scored a total of 26 goals in the process.

However, the Colombian’s contract with the Bianconeri ran out at the end of last month. He did not extend his deal and instead left on a free transfer.

In a turn of events that few will have predicted, Cuadrado will sign for Inter, Sky report. The broadcaster reveal that the Nerazurri have agreed a short-term deal with the ex-Juventus man.

They report that he is set to sign a one-season contract.

Cuadrado has won the Serie A title five times with the Bianconeri. He also helped Juventus to win the Coppa Italia on four occasions, and reached the Champions League final in 2017.

Cuadrado has also played for Lecce and Udinese in Serie A.
