Inter Milan are leaning towards signing Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero as Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin and Athletico Paranaense’s Bento have fallen off their radar.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter’s search for another goalkeeping signing this summer continues.

Yann Sommer is already close to joining from Bayern Munich – the Swiss should complete his medicals and sign his contract today.

However, the Nerazzurri still want to sign another keeper. Considering both Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic left this summer, they want an able backup keeper.

There have been a few options that Inter have had in mind.

However, things look to be narrowing down significantly as a couple of those have fallen off of the Nerazzuri’s radar.

Inter Milan After Audero As Trubin & Bento Pursuits Look Set To Fail

The Nerazzurri’s strategy has been clear – sign Sommer for the present and then bring in a younger keeper for the future.

Shakhtar keeper Trubin has been the preferred option in this respect for some time.

However, it has been difficult for Inter to negotiate with the Ukrainian’s club. They have remained miles apart in fee.

Now, Benifca look to be close to getting a deal over the line for Trubin. The Portuguese champions have convinced Shakhtar not with a higher fee, but by offering a very large chunk of resale percentage.

Meanwhile, Inter have also shown an interest in 24-year-old Paranaense keeper Bento.

The Brazilian himself has confirmed that the Nerazzurri made an offer.

Moreover, Paranaense’s Sporting Director has also clarified that Inter are indeed in talks regarding the keeper. However, he also made clear that Bento is not for sale until at least 2024.

Inter could wait and then move for the 24-year-old at that point. But this summer, a move would seem to be very unlikely.

That leaves Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero.

There is little doubt that the 26-year-old will leave the Marassi this summer considering the Blucerchiati’s relegation to Serie B.

According to the Gazzetta, Audero is now the man who Inter will likely go after to be the backup to Sommer next season.
