Inter Milan could rely on the “Champions League factor” to beat Juventus and Atalanta to the signing of Monza wingback Carlos Augusto.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Augusto looks to be one of the hot names on the transfer market in Serie A this summer.

The 24-year-old was one of the outstanding debutants in the Italian top flight last season.

Having played a key role in Monza’s promotion to Serie A, Augusto seamlessly made the step up to the top flight to also be one of the Brianzoli’s top performers in their first ever season in the division.

Augusto scored six goals and made five assists to help power Monza to an impressive midtable finish.

This has meant that there is no shortage of transfer interest in the Brazilian’s signature.

Both of Inter and Juventus have reportedly lined the Brazilian up as one of their main targets on the left flank.

Moreover, Fiorentina had also shown an interest in signing Augusto earlier on in the transfer window. However, the Tuscans’ signing of Fabiano Parisi from Empoli likely means that their interest in the Monza wingback has diminished.

Meanwhile, both of Atalanta and Torino are also after Augusto.

Champions League Football Could Be Advantage Inter In Carlos Augusto Chase

One thing that Inter can offer Augusto that none of the wingback’s other suitors can is the chance to play in the Champions League.

Whilst both Juventus and Atalanta want the Brazilian, neither are in Europe’s top club competition next season.

Inter, on the other hand, have booked their place in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri reached the final of the competition last time around and will have high hopes for next campaign.

On the other hand, for Inter a move for Augusto would be entirely contingent on a sale of Robin Gosens.

At the moment, the Nerazzurri don’t look that likely to offload the German, who has reportedly turned down Wolfsburg.
