Inter Milan want to wrap up the signing of defender Benjamin Pavard in time for him to be available against Cagliari on Monday.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

Inter are closing in on the signing of Pavard.

The 27-year-old is the player who the Nerazzurri have identified to replace Milan Skriniar in defense.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact. And coach Simone Inzaghi has also admitted that he wants the Frenchman in his squad by the end of the summer transfer window.

Inter have been pushing in talks through the past few days.

They have continued to push their offer up, and hoped that the player’s insistence would make the difference.

And now, it’s a done deal. Inter and Bayern have reached a full agreement on a deal for Pavard.

The Nerazzurri will pay a fee of €30 million for the Frenchman. In addition, there are €2 million in potential add-ons.

Inter Milan Want To Have Benjamin Pavard Available Vs Cagliari

According to Mediaset, Inter’s intentions for the timeline of Pavard’s arrival are clear.

The Nerazzurri are already considering having the 27-year-old as an option for their next Serie A match.

Inter face newly-promoted Cagliari on Monday. This will be their second league match of the season.

There could already be a minor injury crisis for the Nerazzurri at the back in view of that match.

Francesco Acerbi missed Inter’s opener against Monza last weekend. And Matteo Darmian picked up a minor ankle problem in that match.

Both of the two veteran Italian defenders are under evaluation as far as fitness for Monday’s trip to Sardinia goes.

But Inter coach Simone Inzaghi clearly feels that the defensive resources currently at his disposal aren’t enough.

The coach has pushed for another defender to come in. And Pavard will be that defender.

According to Mediaset, there is every chance that Inzaghi could throw the Frenchman straight into the action against Cagliari.

Therefore, Inter will aim to complete the former Stuttgart and Lille defender’s signing in time to get him in training right away.
