Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Red Bull Salzburg youngster Lucas Gourna-Douath are on Inter Milan’s four-man midfield shortlist for the final week of the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that Fiorentina’s Antonin Barak and Salernitana’s Giulio Maggiore would also represent options within Serie A for the Nerazzurri.

Inter have already had a very busy summer. But they’re not done yet.

One of the final objectives for the Nerazzurri before the transfer window closes is sorting out the midfield.

The club must still settle on a sixth player in the depth chart as far as central areas goes.

Keeping Stefano Sensi around increasingly looks like a serious possibility after a deal for Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic imploded.

But, Tuttosport report, Inter are still also thinking about dipping back into the market.

And the newspaper name four players as being on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist.

Spurs Outcast Tanguy Ndombele On Inter’s Radar To Reinforce Midfield

According to Tuttosport, Ndombele is one of the names that Inter are monitoring for a late swoop.

The Frenchman had been a target for the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2020.

However, the circumstances would be quite different now.

Ndombele has little place in Tottenham’s plans for the season. The 26-year-old former Lyon man had spent last season on loan with Napoli.

And Inter could try to bring him back to Serie A if they don’t want to go with Sensi.

A different kind of profile would be Salzburg midfielder Gourna-Douath.

The Nerazzurri have seen the 20-year-old French youth team international in action during a friendly match against Salzburg during their preseason.

And according to Tuttosport, they are fans of the player.

Gourna-Douath would meet Inter and Simone Inzaghi’s criteria of signing a player who can add physical robustness in the midfield battle – something that is a major doubt with the injury-prone Sense.

However, cost would be an issue with Gourna-Douath. The Frenchman reportedly has a price tag of around €20 million.

Therefore, the only way that a move for Gourna-Douath would likely be possible would be through cash generated by a sale of forward Joaquin Correa.

And, Tuttosport report, Inter could move for one of Barak or Maggiore from within Serie A.

Both know the Italian league well. Inter have targeted both in the past, and could look to do so yet again as they round off the transfer window by sorting out their midfield.
