Midfielder Giovanni Fabbian admits that the uncertainty about his future was difficult prior to his move from Inter Milan to Bologna.

The 20-year-old opened up in a press conference unveiling him as a Bologna player, as reported by FCInterNews.

Bologna are the team to win the race to sign Fabbian this summer.

All of Lecce, Salernitana, Genoa, and Empoli also showed interest. Frosinone reportedly also wanted to sign Fabbian, possibly even loaning him from Bologna.

Udinese had looked like they were the team who would sign Fabbian.

The Italy Under-21 international had been part of negotiations between the Friulani and Inter for a transfer of midfielder Lazar Samardzic.

The Nerazzurri were ready to send Fabbian to Udine in addition to a cash fee to land Fabbian.

However, a dramatic collapse in Inter’s deal to sign Samardzic had ramifications for Fabbian’s move the other way. In the end, it was Bologna who swooped in and snapped the midfielder up after his move to Udinese fell through.

They got a player who shone in Serie B with Reggina last season. The 20-year-old was named as the Calabrian team’s best player of the season.

Giovanni Fabbian On His Move From Inter To Bologna

Fabbian noted that “I spent the summer preseason with Inter in training, including the tour of Japan.”

“I tried to always train on the pitch,” he continued.

He joked that “I had so many medicals that I could hardly take it anymore.”

Fabbian said that “I’m happy because as soon as I heard that Bologna were interested I made clear I was very keen.”

As for who his idols are, Fabbian named “Ibrahimovic because I admire his mentality.”

“I’m a big fan of Barella,” he continued of his former Inter teammate. “And also Kroos. I try to take things from the games of everyone.”
