Inter Milan could sign PSG & Newcastle United target Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo this summer, although they would have to make a sale in midfield to do so.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Marcelo Brozovic could be the man to make way for the 23-year-old, who will cost no less than €40 million.
Frattesi is definitely a player on Inter’s radar as they consider their future midfield.
The Gazzetta report that the Nerazzurri envision a similar path to that of Nicolo Barella for Frattesi. Barella joined from Cagliari when he was considered a highly-rated prospect, and is now well-established top midfielder.
Inter believe that Frattesi can enjoy a similar development.
However, they are not alone in rating the 23-year-old highly. Brighton and Hove Albion have already been linked, whilst the Gazzetta report that Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain have taken preliminary steps to try and sign Frattesi.
Inter Must Sell To Buy PSG & Newcastle Target Frattesi
Accordingly, it is no surprise that Sassuolo want a big fee for Frattesi. The Gazzetta report that the Neroverdi won’t sell the midfielder for any less than €40 million.
However, the Nerazzurri have met with both Sassuolo and with Frattesi’s representatives. According to the Gazzetta, Frattesi would be very interested in a move to Inter.
The simplest way for Inter to meet Sassuolo’s asking price would be to sell a current starting midfielder.
Marcelo Brozovic remains heavily linked with an exit. Despite having gotten his starting spot back recently, the Croat has not had quite the same importance to the team as in the past.
Moreover, Brozovic’s relationship with Inter is reportedly strained.
If Brozovic were to be sold, Frattesi would instantly become a major target as a high-quality reinforcement in midfield, the Gazzetta report.
Inter Could Offer Sassuolo Highly-Rated Youngster + Cash For Frattesi
Moreover, the Nerazzurri could look to entice Sassuolo with a player-plus-cash offer.
Young midfielder Giovanni Fabbian would be the likeliest candidate in this regard. The 20-year-old was named as Reggina’s “MVP” for the season after his loan in Serie B.
This form has certainly not gone unnoticed. Atalanta are perhaps the club most persistently linked with Fabbian’s signature.
Meanwhile, Napoli are also keen on Fabbian’s signature.
Then, Lazio are reportedly considering asking for Fabbian to be part of a swap deal for defender Francesco Acerbi.
According to the Gazzetta, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali and coach Alessio Dionisi are both big fans of Fabbian. Accordingly, the 20-year-old could figure into negotiations for Frattesi, who is also a target for Juventus and Roma.
