Inter Milan have restarted contacts with the representatives of AC Milan and PSG linked Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram.

This according to French news outlet RMC Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to reignite their pursuit of the 25-year-old on a free transfer now that Edin Dzeko is close to leaving.

Inter have been interested in Thuram for some time now.

The Nerazzurri had reportedly been very close to signing the Frenchman in 2021.

However, a knee injury to the player prompted them to move on to other targets, signing Joaquin Correa from Lazio instead.

Inter have also been one of a number of clubs tracking Thuram as a possible summer signing. The interest in the Frenchman’s signature is high as he is leaving Gladbach for free when his contract expires.

The Bundesliga team’s Sporting Director Roland Virkus has admitted that the player has no intention of signing a new deal.

In recent weeks, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain look to have assumed front-runner status in the race to sign Thuram. For a time, Inter’s interest had seemingly faded.

Inter Milan Back In The Race For AC Milan & PSG Target Thuram

However, RMC report, Inter are right back in the race for Thuram.

The reason for this is linked to a big name departure from the Nerazzurri. Namely, that of Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnian is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce on a free transfer when his contract with Inter expires, rejecting the Nerazzurri’s offer of a new deal.

Considering Joaquin Correa is also likely to leave and the future of Romelu Lukaku is also up in the air, Inter have work to do in attack this summer. Lautaro Martinez is the only striker who’s virtually certain to be at Inter for the start of next season.

As such, Inter are right back in the hunt for Thuram.

According to RMC, the Nerazzurri are back in talks with the World Cup runner-up’s representatives. They want to bring him in as a replacement for Dzeko.
