Inter Milan could miss out on the signing of Davide Frattesi as AC Milan are ready to make their move for the Sassuolo midfielder.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter are pushing to sign Neroverdi and Italy star Davide Frattesi for next season.
A key part of Inter’s plan to sign Frattesi has always looked to be selling Marcelo Brozovic first.
The Croat’s departure would free up space in the Nerazzurri’s squad for the Neroverdi man. Moreover, the fee from a sale of Brozovic would give Inter the cash they need to make a deal for Frattesi.
Now Brozovic looks to be on the verge of a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.
Inter will reportedly pocket around €23 million from the deal. This will be enough to allow them to move for Frattesi.
Accordingly, Inter’s plan is to swoop for the 23-year-old immediately once the Brozovic deal goes through.
Inter Milan At Risk Of Missing Out On Frattesi As AC Milan Enter The Race
However, Inter’s pursuit of Frattesi is facing a major obstacle in the form of their city rivals AC Milan’s interest.
The Rossoneri are ready to make their move for Frattesi. They see the Neroverdi midfielder as a replacement for Sandro Tonali after the 23-year-old’s big money move to Newcastle United.
Moreover, Milan are flush with cash following Tonali’s sale.
The Rossoneri will hold talks with Sassuolo on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Gazzetta. This will be where they make their big attempt to get a foothold in the race to sign Frattesi.
This is making Sassuolo think that they can changed their demands in talks with Inter.
Thus far, the Nerazzurri and the Neroverdi have been discussing a possible loan deal containing a purchase option.
The total value of the fee would be €35 million. Additionally, Sassuolo would receive striker Samuele Mulattieri as part of a deal.
Mulattieri is valued at €6 million as part of the deal.
However, the Gazzetta report, with Milan now in the race, Sassuolo don’t want to let Frattesi leave on loan with a purchase option. Rather, the Emilians are now determined to sell the midfielder for a straight cash offer.
