Inter have made Bayer Leverkusen wingback Mitchel Bakker their Plan B option to replace Robin Gosens if they miss out on Carlos Augusto.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that Atalanta and Roma are also big fans of the 23-year-old.

Dutch star Bakker has already been mooted as a possible replacement for former Atalanta wingback Robin Gosens at Inter.

During both last summer transfer window and the January window of the season just gone, Leverkusen were interested in signing Gosens. As part of this interest, they reportedly offered Bakker to Inter.

The Dutchman could have arrived as a part of a possible player-plus-cash swap for Gosens.

However, Gosens stayed put during both transfer window.

This has not meant that the transfer rumours regarding the German’s future have gone away, however.

Rather, the 28-year-old is reportedly a target for Union Berlin, Wolfsburg, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest this summer. Accordingly, Inter are looking high and low for potential replacements for Gosens.

Inter want around €15 million at minimum for the German, according to Tuttosport.

Augusto First-Choice But Inter Milan Also Targeting Leverkusen Star Bakker

Tuttosport confirm widespread reports that Monza’s Carlos Augusto is Inter’s main target to replace Gosens like-for-like.

The 24-year-old has just come off the back of an outstanding season in his first campaign in Serie A.

Augusto scored six and assisted five goals to help Monza to a midtable finish in their first season in the top flight.

Now, Inter are convinced that the Brazilian would be ready to make another step up. They are hoping that if they sell Gosens, who they value at €15 million, then they can sign Augusto.

However, the Nerazzurri aren’t the only team keen on signing the Monza breakout start. Fiorentina and Newcastle United are also among Augusto’s suitors.

Accordingly, Inter won’t necessarily be able to make a deal for the 24-year-old. Particularly if Monza hold out for a high asking price.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri have made sure to also line up alternative targets. Bakker looks to be foremost among them according to Tuttosport.

However, Inter’s Serie A rivals Atalanta and Roma are also keen on the former Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax star.
