Germany Under-21 international Yann Bisseck could have a positionally versatile role at Inter Milan next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908. The newspaper note that the 22-year-old could be useful for the Nerazzurri on both the right and the left side of the back three.
Bisseck is all set to make the move to Inter from Aarhus. The Nerazzurri have triggered the German’s release clause, worth around €7 million.
Inter have identified Bisseck as a key defensive reinforcement. Whilst the 22-year-old will not be the only defensive signing this summer (at the moment, Merih Demiral appears to be the main candidate to replace him), he is a player who Inter are putting their faith in.
A lot of this certainly has to do with the player’s age and potential. By all accounts Inter believe that Bisseck can develop into a top-level defender.
Accordingly, part of the Nerazzurri’s plan is to bring in a more experienced defender for the shorter term and have Bisseck integrate into the team more slowly.
This does not mean that the young German won’t immediately have a role.
Yann Bisseck Could Play Both Left & Right Of Inter Milan Back Three
One of the main reasons that Inter are signing Bisseck is that they need a deputy for Alessandro Bastoni.
During the season just gone, the 24-year-old has had no real backup option in the squad.
Either Francesco Acerbi has shifted to the left or Federico Dimarco has moved into defense when Bastoni has been out.
Despite being right-footed, Bisseck has played on the left at Aarhus. Therefore, Inter are looking at the 22-year-old as a player capable of truly backing up Bastoni like-for-like on the left of the defense.
On the other hand, Bisseck can also play on the right. This could be key next season.
Milan Skriniar has left, and so has Danilo D’Ambrosio. Whilst a replacement for Skriniar will arrive, and Matteo Darmian can play in defense, that is not necessarily ideal depth.
Accordingly, Bisseck will in all likelihood get chances to play on the right as well.
