Inter Milan could move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin on a free transfer if they’re unable to do a deal now.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could respond to missing out on the 21-year-old’s signature this summer by simply waiting to sign him in another twelve months’ time.

Inter are trying to sign Shakhtar keeper Trubin as their replacement for Andre Onana.

With Onana now one step away from joining Manchester United, the Nerazzurri are getting their succession plan in place. 21-year-old Ukrainian international Trubin has been the player they’ve been working to sign for a couple weeks now.

As far as the player’s end, Inter have all the necessary agreements with Trubin.

The young Ukrainian international wants to join the Nerazzurri for next season.

However, with the young keeper’s club, it is a different story. Shakhtar are still asking for a fee of €30 million for Trubin according to Tuttosport.

The fact that the Ukrainian’s contract runs out at the end of next June hasn’t caused them to lower their demands thus far. Thusly, the distance between their price tag and Inter’s intention to offer no higher than €12 million is massive.

Inter Milan Could Wait A Season & Sign Anatoliy Trubin On A Free Transfer

Clearly, at present Inter are at risk of missing out on Trubin’s signature.

If Shakhtar stick to their guns and hold out for a big fee this summer despite the fact that the Ukrainian international’s contract expires at the end of next June, there is hardly a chance of they and the Nerazzurri working out a deal.

However, the fact remains that Inter have the player’s will.

The Nerazzurri could then wait until next summer. When Trubin’s contract with Shakhtar expires, they could simply sign a deal with the player without having to involve Shakhtar.

In the meantime, Inter could sign Sampdoria keeper Emil Audero in addition to veteran Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
