Inter Milan have identified Arsenal and USMNT striker Folarin Balogun as their main striker target with Romelu Lukaku out of the picture.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are also considering the likes of Alvaro Morata, Gianluca Scamacca, Jonathan David, and M’bala Nzola as options in the striker position.
Everything is now over between Inter and Lukaku.
After weeks of trying to get a deal done with Chelsea for the Belgian, the Nerazzurri have pulled the plug. They were, to put it mildly, not impressed with the player’s antics negotiating with Juventus.
This means that the Nerazzurri now must consider alternatives to the 30-year-old.
And according to the Corriere, Inter have a specific name in mind.
Balogun Top Of Inter Milan’s List In Number Nine Position As Lukaku Talks Collapse
According to the Corriere, Inter are strongly considering going after Arsenal’s Balogun.
The 21-year-old is coming off the back of an outstanding loan spell with Reims in Ligue 1.
The Gunners are reportedly asking for around €40 million to sell Balogun. But, as it happens, this is right around the amount that Inter were ready to pay Chelsea to sign Lukaku.
Therefore, a move for Balogun would not be beyond Inter’s financial plans. The American is definitely within reach in that respect.
Inter would see Balogun as not just a capable goalscorer in the immediate term, but also an option for the future.
However, the Nerazzurri are also casting a wide net.
The Corriere report that Atletico Madrid striker Morata is a consideration for Inter as a player with plenty of Serie A experience.
The Nerazzurri could also reignite their chase of West Ham United’s Scamacca.
Lille and Canada star David and Spezia striker Nzola are the two other strikers who the Corriere name as Inter targets.
