Inter Milan decided to abruptly walk away from talks to sign Romelu Lukaku, castigating the striker for his antics.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who reveal that Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio vented his anger to the Belgian on the phone as he made clear that the deal is off for good.

As the Gazzetta put it, Lukaku is now seeing his world crumble around him.

The 30-year-old will have long expected that he’d be making the return to Inter this summer. In terms of his public-facing communications and what he’s told the Nerazzurri, that’s been the only thing he’s wanted.

But behind the scenes, Lukaku and his agent Sebastien Ledure were acting quite differently.

In fact, Ledure was actively pursuing negotiations with both AC Milan and Juventus.

What’s not exactly clear is why exactly the Belgian has entertained these possibilities. There’s no doubt that he’ll have been aware of the controversy that these flirtations could arouse.

But in any event, the extent of Lukaku’s flirtations with Inter’s two most bitter rivals has prompted outrage from the Nerazzurri. They feel that there are no conditions to continue together with the striker.

Inter Moved Swiftly To Reproach Lukaku & Move On

The Gazzetta report that after Inter finally agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Lukaku, there were some nerves as they had not been able to get in touch with the player.

Obviously, Lukaku’s green light would have been necessary to wrap up the deal.

Then, Inter discovered the full extent of the player’s negotiations with Juventus and Milan. Whilst some talks with the Bianconeri and the Rossoneri would be one thing, they figured out that Lukaku had been in very serious negotiations.

When the Nerazzurri finally did get a hold of Lukaku, they made the parting of ways quick.

In a short phone call, Inter Sporting Director Ausilio angrily castigated the Belgian.

He made clear that this is it – Lukaku’s stunt has completely alienated the Nerazzurri.
