Young Montpellier striker Elye Wahi is a player Inter Milan are eyeing up as part of their search for a striker.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are looking at the 20-year-old as a possible target in attack as they cast their net after ending talks for Romelu Lukaku.

Everything is now over between Inter and Lukaku.

After weeks of trying to get a deal done with Chelsea for the Belgian, the Nerazzurri have pulled the plug. The fact that Lukaku decided to negotiate with Juventus has meant that Inter will completely reject the possibility of bringing him back.

Now, the Nerazzurri are scrambling to find an adequate backup target to Lukaku.

And in this search, another possible name has come onto their radar.

Inter Milan Considering Move For Montpellier Star Elye Wahi

20-year-old France Under-21 international Wahi enjoyed something of a breakout campaign with Montpellier last season.

Having scored ten goals during the 2021-22 campaign, last time around the Frenchman found the back of the net nineteen times in 33 appearances.

This has caused Inter to sit up and take notice. They see Wahi as a possible target as an out-and-out striker now that their pursuit of Lukaku has ended.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are also looking at young strikers like Udinese’s Beto and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund as possible young signings.

And Arsenal and USMNT star Folarin Balogun is also a name right near the top of the Nerazzurri’s shortlist.

Alternatively, the Gazzetta reports, Inter could opt for a more experienced striker.

Porto and Iran striker Mehdi Taremi would present one viable option. As would former Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea man Alvaro Morata, available this summer from Atletico Madrid.

But should Inter decide to go for a young player, Montpellier’s Wahi has come into the frame.
