Bologna will sign midfielder Giovanni Fabbian from Inter Milan, and don’t plan on loaning him out next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Rossoblu will sign the Rossoblu will sign the 20-year-old for a fee of €5 million, whilst the Nerazzurri will, retain a €12 million buyback option.

Bologna are on the verge of winning the race to sign Fabbian this summer.

The Italy under-21 international has had plenty of suitors after an excellent season on loan in Serie B with Reggina.

All of Lecce, Salernitana, Genoa, and Empoli have shown interest.

Moreover, until last week, it had looked as though Fabbian was heading to Udinese.

The Friulani had been ready to sign the 20-year-old as part of a deal for Lazar Samardzic to go in the opposite direction.

However, the Nerazzurri’s signing of Samardzic has collapsed entirely.

Therefore, Fabbian will not join Udinese after all. And it has not taken long for Inter to sort out a different plan for the young midfielder.

Bologna To Sign Giovanni Fabbian From Inter – Not Loaning Him Out

The Gazzetta provide further confirmation that Bologna will sign Fabbian on very similar terms to that which Udinese were as part of the failed Samardzic deal.

Inter will receive a fee of €5 million. But, as they have always insisted, the Nerazzurri will have a buyback option so they still retain control over Fabbian’s future.

That buyback option will be worth €5 million.

Moreover, the Gazzetta report that Bologna plan to keep Fabbian in their squad next season.

There had been reports that Bologna could loan the 20-year-old straight back out next season to Frosinone, yet another admirer of the player.

But according to the Gazzetta, the Emilian club will immediately make Fabbian available to coach Thiago Motta.

Last season was Fabbian’s first within the senior game. He took his initial steps in Serie B.

That was a very successful first venture into senior football for a player who’d already starred at youth team level.

Fabbian named as the Reggina’s best player of the season.

This has even led to interest from some of Serie A’s heavy hitters – Napoli, Lazio, and Atalanta.
