Inter Milan are turning to Trevoh Chalobah as a defensive target now that his Chelsea teammate Kalidou Koulibaly is headed to Al-Hilal.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to go after the 23-year-old Englishman in lieu of Koulibaly as they pursue a big defensive signing for next season.
Inter’s pursuit of ex-Napoli defender Koulibaly looks as though it will not be successful.
The 31-year-old Senegalese international is ready to accept a massive money offer to join Al-Hilal. Therefore, there is no chance of his moving to the Nerazzurri on loan as they had hoped.
Koulibaly had emerged as one of Inter’s main targets to replace Milan Skriniar in defense for next season.
With the Slovakian headed to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter need a big defensive reinforcement.
Young German starlet Yann Aurel Bisseck is close to joining the Nerazzurri from Danish side Aarhus. However, this won’t be sufficient to complete the defense for next season.
Bisseck is more of a long-term signing to be an understudy to Alessandro Bastoni.
Inter are still looking for a defender who’s immediately ready to strengthen the squad, replacing Skriniar.
Inter Want Chalobah As Koulibaly Heads To Al-Hilal
To replace Skriniar, Inter have looked at a number of potential targets.
Veterans like Chelsea’s Koulibaly and Real Madrid’s Nacho have been linked.
There have also been reports of interest in Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard and Atalanta’s Merih Demiral. Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof is another name on the Nerazzurri’s radar.
Meanwhile, Inter are also looking at plenty of younger profiles.
The Nerazzurri are reportedly interested in Lille’s Tiago Djalo and Red Bull Salzburg’s Oumar Solet as far as younger players.
Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah is also a target. The Nerazzurri have been tracking the 23-year-old since last summer.
According to the Corriere, Inter could move for Chalobah in lieu of Koulibaly.
